We Groan to Glory (Rom 8:17-21) | Rev. Herman Moldez, Sept 7, 2025

From Groaning to Glory (Sermon Series)

The series of sermons in September 2025 is from Rom 8:17-39. The journey to eternity is through the path of suffering. It is the call to follow Jesus to take up our cross to receive his crown. There is no shortcut. We flourish by pashing through the fire. But in doing so, God will turn our groaning into His glory. No one wants to go through suffering. So many want to deny it. Others make a detour to avoid it. However, disciples drive through it to discover the kingdom at work to experience God’s eternal love holding the beloved to eternity. It is only when we can look and listen to life’s suffering within the frame of God’s love that we can embrace life’s groanings with the radiance of glory.

We Groan to Glory (Rom 8:17-21)

The mess of disobedience that makes us groan will lead to glory. In Christ, we are redeemed. Beyond the dark horizon shines the glory to be revealed. We groan not in despair but with deep longing for what is to come.

In becoming Christ's followers, suffering does not disappear. But it its good to know that life's groaning leads to the glory of eternity.

1. It is worth to suffer with Christ

2. It is worthy to suffer with Christ

Reflect: What message has encouraged you to persevere while going through feeling beaten and broken as you groan in pain?

"Lord, forgive us when we complain and doubt your love in our suffering."
